About Me

Let me introduce myself. I’m Fiona Laing, a self-employed therapist based in Edinburgh and have over 20 years’ experience.

I specialise in Clinical Hypnotherapy and Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy and until 2020 also in Remedial Massage.

As well as working 1:1, I’ve been a lead tutor for the massage school I trained with and run my own well-being workshops.  Prior to my complementary therapy career, I was a corporate trainer.

Helping and supporting people has always been at the core of my career roles.

Like so many people in 2020, I had a major life change. I made the hard decision to hang up my massage tunic and focus my business on providing talking therapies online.

I believe passionately in helping people help themselves by enabling clients to experience the changes and feel the benefits therapy can bring. I help clients find options and choices they have control over. I love to see clients blossom and feel freer to achieve their goals and plans.

My therapy sessions specialise in helping with the many life situations where anxiety develops, relaxation doesn’t exist and stress needs managed. For when you realise life is not in balance or the way you want it to be and you recognise you want help and guidance.

In periods of my life I have suffered from severe stress and anxiety and I’ve made changes. I benefit on an ongoing basis from all the therapies I practice. As human beings I believe we’re all a work in progress until the day we take our last breath, which shows the amazing potential we have!

What I aim to do is bring together my many years of ongoing professional training, expertise, experience, empathy, holistic values and humour to help you find choices and achieve the life you want.

My professional qualifications include:

  • Diploma in Clinical Hypnosis from The London College of Clinical Hypnosis in 2005

  • Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy from The London College of Clinical Hypnosis in 2006

  • Throughout the years ongoing professional courses on specific topics as part of my continual professional development.

  • I’m a full member of the British Society of Clinical Hypnosis

  • Diplomas in Swedish Massage, Remedial Massage and Sports Massage, and Clinical Aromatherapy from The Scottish Massage Schools between 2002-2004.

  • Certificate in Advanced Techniques from The Western School of Massage in 2006.

And here’s a little bit more about me:

  • I love music especially Musical Theatre and all the old classics

  • I’ve performed in a collection of pantos, plays, shows and sung solos (photo evidence may appear in coming blogs!)

  • I’ve walked the full 26.2 mile Moonwalk Scotland 4 times raising money for a charity with personal connections. Challenging, especially in Scottish Summer nights!

  • I’m a total devotee of Callanetics with Edinburgh Callanetics (which I’ve featured in past blogs and will again)

  • Finally, I’m chief flyer handerouter and very proud Mum to my daughter who did 3 consecutive years of her one woman show in the Edinburgh Fringe on the music of Doris Day.
